Madrid: Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has stated his side beat one of the best sides in history to win this season`s Liga yet could not resist a dig at some of his team`s critics who believe Barcelona`s brand of football as the only style to exist.
Los Blancos` 3-0 away win at Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday gave the capital club the title with Barca seven points behind with only two games remaining.
With their first league trophy since 2008 and Mourinho`s first at the club, the Portuguese trainer was keen to talk up his team`s achievement by putting their success into context.
"We have beaten one of the best teams in history, but which some `luminaries` say play the only football that exists," he told Portuguese television channel SIC after the win at San Mames.
"These are the people who only know football by Google, who type things into the computer and absorb knowledge but football is more than that. We have played spectacular football, scored many goals and achieved a lot of victories."
The Liga trophy now means the 49-year-old has won league titles in four different countries; with the former Inter man particularly keen to register success in England, Italy and Spain.
"It was a goal I had and now it`s been achieved. I have now won the leagues I wanted; that of my own country and the three most important in Europe. I have no ambition of winning a different championship. There is no other league that motivates me.”
"I`m not tired yet. I need a lot to get tired so I will continue to try and win my eighth league title and carry on enjoying what I`m doing."
Madrid are back in Liga action on Saturday when they face an away trip to Granada.
