Chennai: They might have settled for a 2-2 draw after an engrossing battle but NorthUnited FC's Ricky Roberts says they were the better team today in the ISL match against Chennaiyin FC, here on Saturday.
Denying that his team was lucky to have not been penalised with a penalty, Roberts said, "Two weeks before against Delhi we gained an absolute penalty that was not given. Incidentally it was the same referee if that was given we would have got three points. I would say that sometimes you get it and sometimes you do not. It can happen. Do not talk about that.
On the other hand, Vivek Nagul the assistant coach of the Chennaiyin FC not wanting to be dragged in to questioning the referree decisions, said "Obviously we are disappointed the draw as we played well. The better team lost,I mean today it was a loss to us. We deserved the three points. We did good job. I think it was a moment of distraction that happened with the free kick and then we did not defend well. We should have been more compact and concentrated to earn three points."
Giving accolades to Len Doungel, the Man of the match for his superb goal, Roberts said, "It was a choice to me that we gave him a shot and he grabbed at it. I am delighted for him today. I keep saying that these young boys are would shine when they play against experienced players like Mendy."
"He was the pick sort from the international camps and against defensive tactics of Materazi that this boy lived up tonight. It was pretty good. He could not have written the script better," he said.
