New Delhi: Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way to Manchester United next season after reports suggest he is frustrated at Real Madrid. The Portugal international seems to be disillusioned with Real after the European champions' sale of key players over the years. Former Real president Ramon Calderon, has stated that Ronaldo is fed up with the transfer policy of the club.
The Los Blancos have started the season poorly, losing two of their first three La Liga matches, and Ronaldo is disappointed at the results and the sale of key players, such as Angel di Maria and Xabi Alonso. Reports suggest that the former Sporting Lisobon and Manchester United player has differences with present Real president Florentino Perez.
Ronaldo who has stated a few times that the English giants are special in his life and he wishes to go back to Old Trafford someday, has been unhappy at Madrid. His former club-mate Angel Di Maria who joined United this summer in a record British transfer, had suggested that he does not know how long will the former stay at Madrid.
Ramon Calderon suggested that the sale of Arjen Robben, Gonzalo Higuain, Mesut Ozil, Xavi Alonso and Angel Di Maria over the years have made him feel bitter over time. Calderon also feels that Ronaldo could be tempted to return back to United next year.
Ronaldo has scored an emphatic 256 goals for Real in just 251 appearences, since his joining in 2009. He has already become a Madrid legend and has won La Liga, two Spanish Super Cups and a Champions League title with the club.
United fans will be excited if he does join the club next season as he is loved and respected by one and all in Manchester.
Real face FC Basel at home in the Champions League match-day one at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.
