Paris: France striker Karim Benzema, who is still recovering from an adductor strain, said Friday he was working his way back to full fitness but admitted he was doubtful for Sunday`s friendly against Paraguay.
"It`s better, there`s no reason to worry. I`m looking after it and it`s improving. I`m doing much better," said Benzema at France`s pre-World training camp in Clairefontaine, having only arrived there on Wednesday after helping Real Madrid win the Champions League last Saturday.
"I`m recovering, I did some running (Thursday), and this afternoon I`m going to work on my fitness. (The friendly on) Sunday will come a bit too soon, I think it`s more likely I`ll be back with the team on Wednesday.
"I have no pain. (But) the adductor is always a bit complicated, there`s a slight fear of shooting. Today it`s better and I hope to be back soon," added Benzema.
Aside from Sunday`s friendly in Nice, France will also face Jamaica in Lille on June 8 before heading to the finals in Brazil.
Didier Deschamps` side opening their World Cup campaign against Honduras on June 15. They`ve also been drawn alongside Switzerland and Ecuador in Group E.
