New Delhi: Brazil`s superstar, Neymar paid dividends to the nation`s faith in him as he got off to a dream start by netting a brace against Croatia in the opening fixture of the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Thursday.
The 22-year old is the key to Brazil`s hopes who are eyeing a sixth World Cup title and this time its at their own backyard. The Barcelona forward ensured the tournament hosts got off to a winning start in Group A and he did that in an emphatic manner.
With Spain taking on the Netherlands on Friday, their talismans Diego Costa and Robin van Persie, respectively have hopes riding on them just as Neymar. The duo will like to carry their team forward in a thrilling contest and start their campaign ticking like the Brazilians.

Against Croatia, Neymar`s first goal was a screamer. With a sublime low shot that crept into the net from 25 yards, Neymar showed his class. The celebration spoke in volumes and justified Neymar`s start to the World Cup saying he is out to deliver the goods. His second goal, 19 minutes before the end, was altogether more controversial. He converted a penalty to put Brazil ahead and take his tally to 33 goals in 50 international appearances.
After the victory, Neymar stated that he is happier than he had ever dreamt about. "I think I am happier than I ever dreamt, to start with a victory in the World Cup such as this," he said.
Neymar who excelled for Brazil in the 2013 Confederations Cup has become the nation`s poster boy and he will hope to score many more and keep the world grooving to his tunes.
