Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is doubtful to face Costa Rica after missing his side`s World Cup opener against England with an ankle injury, manager Cesare Prandelli revealed.
"He got hurt yesterday," Prandelli said after seeing his side beat England 2-1 in their first Group D game in Manaus on Saturday.
"We tried for him to get better this morning, but we didn`t have time. I think within a few days he`ll be available. I can`t quantify the number of days. He had a sprain, so I don`t know."
In Buffon`s absence, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu deputised between the posts for Italy.
Italy are due to face Costa Rica, shock 3-1 victors over Uruguay in their opening game, in Recife on Friday.
