New Delhi: The bad guys of football are ruling the scenario in Brazil and this time its one of the best forwards in the world, Luis Suarez.

The Liverpool and Uruguay striker hurt England after Italy`s Mario Balotelli, who had earlier inflicted the same wound upon England in the Three Lions` opening fixture against Italy. Both Balotelli and Suarez, who have been subjected to on and off-field controversies in their careers, showed the world why their footballing attributes is greater than their bad boy image.

Suarez, who was nursing a five-week knee injury, missed Uruguay`s 3-1 loss in the opener against Costa Rica. The South American heavyweights are a different entity altogether with Luis Suarez in the playing XI and that was visible again on Thursday in their 2-1 victory. Suarez showed glimpses of his world-class ability after he scored two beautifully timed goals which handed Uruguay a big boost and ended their 15-match unbeaten run against European opponents in the World Cup.

Suarez`s first was a well placed header which showed his calmness on the big stage. England`s, Steven Gerrard conceded possession in midfield and, from Edinson Cavani`s perfect cross, Suarez pulled away from Jagielka to head past Hart. The celebration was emphatic just as the goal.

In the closing stages of the match with the score-line 1-1, Suarez latched on to a long direct ball from Muslera, which Gerrard could only flick on with his head, and then steadied himself before rifling in a bullet shot to seal the victory. Suarez continued with his mouth-watering form which was visible for his club Liverpool in the entire season and also in Uruguay`s World Cup qualifiers.

Suarez was utmost sure that he will play against England and his positivity paid huge dividends. When Uruguay needed their talisman in a crucial juncture, he delivered. What`s most appreciating is that he showcased his brilliance in front of his Liverpool team-mates who were playing against him for England.

Suarez has kick-started his campaign off with style and it`s come at a time when Uruguay needed it the most.
