New Delhi: The summit clash of the FIFA World Cup 2014 is between Lionel Messi-led Argentina and robust Germany on Sunday at historical Maracana stadium in Rio De Janeiro.

Let`s find out five reasons why the final between these two nations is going to be a blockbuster hit.

Revenge match: Argentina booked the World Cup final berth after a long wait of 24 years by beating the Netherlands 4-2 (PS) in the 2nd semi-finals. And co-coincidentally in 1990 World Cup, Germany were the ones who beat the Albicelestes to win their third World Cup title. This time around, revenge would be on the minds of Argentina when they meet the Germans in the final. If we see head-to-head World Cup final encounters between these two football powerhouses, then its a 1-1 tie, as Argentina too have got the better of Germany in the 1986 World Cup under the captaincy of football legend Diego Maradona.

South America vs Europe Final: As the quadrennial event is taking place in South America, we have seen many top European nations struggling at this World Cup. But against all the odds Germany managed to reach the finals. In fact, the way they beat the host nation in the first semi-finals (7-1) shows that they are hungry to win the coveted title for the fourth time. However, Argentina, who rode on the individual brilliance of their star striker Messi in the first four matches of the tournament, showed in their last two matches that if they play like an unit it would be tough to beat them. So it`s going to be a tight match between a South American and an European team.

Chance for Messi to match Maradona`s feat: Messi, who has often been criticised for not winning a single World Cup for his country unlike Maradona, has the best chance to lead his country to its third World Cup title and put all the criticism to rest. So far he has played outstanding football in the edition and won four consecutive Man of the Match awards. And if Argentina manage to beat Germany in the final, Messi would certainly mange to match the feat of Maradona.

The historic stadium of MaracanaThe Maracana stadium is all set to host the final of the World Cup 2014. And the stadium has the history of witnessing historic upsets. How one can forget one of the biggest upsets of World Cup, when Uruguay beat the host nation Brazil in the final of 1950 World Cup – known as `Maracana tragedy`. Even in the on-going World Cup, when Chile beat the title holders Spain 2-0 to end their World Cup campaign in the first round took place at Maracana only. Now it would be interesting to see what it keeps in store for the finals between the two footballing giants.

Brazil find solace in Argentina’s win Even before the start of the tournament, in Brazil many football fans wanted to see Brazil and Argentina in the finals. But as the Brazilian World Cup dreams got over after the 7-1 drubbing in the semi-finals, they have no option left but to support the other South American team Argentina. In fact, the Brazilian fans would find some solace if Germany lose to Argentina because of the simple fact that Germans ended their World Cup campaign. Neymar also made it clear that he is going to support Argentina in the finals.

One thing is sure that it`s gong to be a cracker of a match as both the finalists are trying to put everything they have to win the coveted title. So gear up for Sunday`s blockbuster show with some popcorn and soft drinks!
