Can Spain successfully defend the Euro title?

Can Spain successfully defend the Euro title? After missing the services of their key scorer David Villa and inspirational Carlos Puyol due to injuries, Spain look shaky in their title defence. A grueling season in the domestic circle for their main men Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta don’t help their cause either.

The fact that towards the end of the Primera Liga season former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola was resting Xavi to protect a long running calf problem showed age is catching up with the 32-year-old midfielder.

Will the 2008 champions be the first one to defend the Euro title successfully? Have your say…

by statistics, spain has a shaky start in wc 2012, losing to switzerland, 1-0, in their 1st match. they won over germany in the semi-finals, 1-0, not a convincing win. in the finals, spain scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of the match. ayen robben almost made 2 goals on solo runs fm long passes. casillas is lucky to have deviated a sure goal from an unusual part of his body, the heel. the usually very technical germans will put up a defense to counter spain`s strength, just as they did in 1974, against netherllands , then d defending european champions and the dominant team then. l

no way, germany are to ostronga and moreover, spain`s flowing attack seldom leads to goals. germany are an attacked minded team whereas spain look for possessino and miss out on goals. puyol`s absence would hurt spain in defense as well.
