Anirban Lahiri finishes tied 52nd in CIMB Classic

Anirban Lahiri finishes tied 52nd in CIMB Classic

Another poor performance in round four of the $7 million CIMB Classic saw Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri finish in tied 52nd place as American Ryan Moore took home the title here Sunday.

A one-over par 73 in the final lap rounded off a poor tournament for the Indian, who is second behind American David Lipsky in the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

With the win in the Macau Open, Lahiri came into the tournament with lots of expectations but failed to repeat his exploits.

"Very disappointed. Played nowhere near my potential. I just really struggled around the greens, made a lot of birdies, but dropped so many shots," said Lahiri.

"Just all week there was no momentum. Every time I made a couple of birdies, I did a couple of bad shots. It's just been that kind of week. I just haven't got anything going, and every time I did, came in my own way."

Lahiri had scores of 74, 72, 70 and 73 in the four rounds -- nowhere near the leading pack -- and had to settle for $16,415 as cash prize.

"Last week was great, this week was very disappointing. I just need to pick myself up with another good week next week, try and play my best next week.

"I think it's more to do with my own expectations. I expected myself to play better, play more consistently, and you know, I was just nowhere near my game right from the start."

"I hit 15 greens today and shot over par, and that's been my story. I've been hitting it 10, 15 feet and just not even coming close. So I need to turn that around, work a little bit on my putting next week," said Lahiri.

"I had great difficulty adjusting to the greens this week, which is disappointing considering again that I played it a lot. So lots of negatives this week that I need to work on and turn into strengths."

Moore successfully defended his title after holding off combined challenges from Gary Woodland -- last year's runner-up, and Kevin Na and Sergio Garcia.
