Atwal makes disappointing start at Greenbrier Clas

White Sulphur Spring (USA): Indian golfer
Arjun Atwal made a disappointing start, carding a two-over 72
in the opening round to lie tied 95th in the Greenbrier
Classic on the PGA Tour here.

The Indian pro, who started on the 10th, saw all the
action on the second stretch.

Atwal, scheduled to play the WGC and the PGA
Championships next month, would need a good second round to
stay over for the weekend.

Atwal bogeyed the 10th, but parred the next nine holes.
He bogeyed the second, seventh and eighth but also birdied the
fourth and ninth, his closing hole.

Former Masters champion South African Trevor Immelman
coming back from a wrist surgery shot the best card of the
year to take the first round lead.

He carded a six-under 64, one better than five others,
Gary Woodland, Billy Mayfair, Derek Lamely, Webb Simpson and
Steven Bowditch of Australia.
