Milwaukee: The rust showed and Arjun
Atwal will need something special to make the cut after his
wobbly opening round of five-under 75 had him at tied 116th in
the USD four million US Bank Championship golf tournament
here.
Playing only his second PGA Tour event since returning
from a long injury lay-off, the Orlando-based Indian going
tough at the par-70 Brown Deer Park Golf Course which tested
him to the hilt.
The former Asian Tour number one parred the opening hole
before a triple bogey greeted him on the par-four second hole.
Atwal bogeyed the sixth to go four-over before finishing the
stretch with his first birdie.
His back nine was equally bumpy with the Indian dropping
a hat-trick of bogeys before draining his second birdie on the
15th hole.
Greg Chalmers and Jeff Klauk fired identical 64s to share
the lead with a quartet hot on their heels from two strokes
behind.
Atwal had earlier missed the cut at his comeback event at
John Deere Classic.
