Bhullar tied 17th after decent start to Japan Tour tourney

Nagasaki (Japan): A sedate opening round of
one-under 69 placed first-timer Gaganjeet Bhullar tied 17th
after the opening round of the Japan PGA Golf Championship
here today.

Playing his maiden Japan Tour event, Bhullar, a 10th tee
starter, was even-par at the turn after a couple of bogeys
negated the pair of birdies he had nailed there.

Bhullar looked more in control in the front nine where he
birdied the third hole and kept it bogey-free to return a
one-under card.

Kenichi Kuboya blasted a five-under 65 to grab the sole
lead, ahead of Shingo Katayama and Daisuke Serizawa who trail
him from one shot behind.
