Chopra drops to tied fourth at Nationwide Tour championships

Charleston: A disastrous stretch over five holes cost Daniel Chopra dear on a windy day as he shot a a five-over 77 in the third round to slip to tied fourth in the Nationwide Tour Championship.

It was an extraordinary 15-shot swing from his previous round for Chopra, whose score swings have been enormous this week. He had a 10-shot swing between first and second rounds and has had cards of 72, 62 and 77. It was a very windy day and it kept switching directions making it difficult for the players to cope. Chopra opened with a birdie on the sixth and then bogeyed the ninth, parred the 10th, bogeyed the 11th, triple-bogeyed the 12th and again bogeyed the 13th to drop six shots in five holes. He birdied 14th and again dropped a shot on 16th. On a day when there were just two cards in the 60s Bureau Report 67 by Scott Brown being the best - Jason Kokrak stayed in the front with his 75. He was seven-under 209 and one clear of Brown and Ken Duke (70) at six-under. Daniel Chopra was in the bunch tied at fourth at five-under 211. Chopra started the week in 24th place on the Money List with the top-25 earning a PGA Tour card for 2012. Kokrak has won both times he has held the 54-hole lead. Kokrak won the Albertsons Boise Open and the Miccosukee Championship in Miami earlier this month. PTI
