Gangjee tied 39th after Rd1 of Nationwide event

Indian golfer Rahil Gangjee started off with a modest one-under 70 to be tied 39th after the first round of the Rex Hospital Open Golf Tournament on the Nationwide Tour.

The Kolkata golfer, a close friend of PGA Tour player, Arjun Atwal, was making his ninth start in the maiden season on the Nationwide Tour. The 10th tee starter had four birdies and three bogeys. He birdied the 15th and 18th, but in between dropped a shot on 16th. On the second stretch, Gangjee bogeyed the first, but made up with birdies on second and fourth. He, however, dropped a late bogey on par-five ninth hole. Kyle Reifers, Justin Peters and England`s Matthew Richardson carded six-under 65 each to share the first round lead.Andy Bare was among five players sharing the fourth place at five-under 66 on a hot and humid day.
