Jammu: Asserting that constitution of Golf Management Authority is in offing in Jammu & Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the creation of golf course in the state would help rope in national and international golfers to the state giving boost to tourism related activities.
"In order to manage the affairs of all the Golf Courses in the State holistically and showcase this sports facility internationally, constitution of Golf Management Authority is in offing in Jammu & Kashmir," Omar said, while chairing First Governing Body meeting of Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC).
Omar said that the completion and inauguration of Golf Courses at Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sidhra (Jammu) and development of Golf Course at Leh would attract golfers to the State to play in different environments during their stay in the three regions.
Chairing 1st Governing Body meeting of Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC) here today, the Chief Minister approved release of Rs 3 crore for the development of the 9-holes Sidhra Golf Course to 18-holes.
The non-official members of the Governing Body S S Bloeria, S S Wazir, Najam-us-Saqib, A M Watali and Amrik Singh also participated in the meeting which among other things discussed the matters relating to the formation of rules and regulations of the Golf Course.
