Indian challenge ends in Malaysian Squash series

New Delhi: Indian challenge ended in the NSC Series-2 Squash Championships after all four girls became first round casualties in the USD 4,000 event played at the Bukit Jalil National Squash Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Youngest ever to win the WISPA title at the age of 15 Anaka Alankamony, Aparajitha Balamurukan, Surbhi Misra and Anwesha Reddy suffered straight sets defeats in the women`s category to draw curtains on Indian campaign.

Fifth seed Alankamony lost 10-12, 4-11, 4-11 to Pakistani qualifier Maria Toor Pakay in 37 minutes, while Balamurukan went down 2-11, 5-11, 1-11 to top seed local challenge Sharan Wee in 22 minutes.

Qualifier Misra fought hard but ran out of steam against third seed local girl Siti Munirah Jusoh to lose 12-14, 6-11, 2-11 in 26 minutes. Anwesha Reddy was also shown the door 8-11, 1-11, 1-11 by eighth seed Pushppa Devi.

Later, Wee went on to record her first WISPA World Tour title success since November 2007 with an impressive 13-11, 11-8, 11-1 victory over Pakistan`s Pakay in the final.
