Nagoya (Japan): Jeev Milkha Singh was unable to hold on to a brilliant start as he faltered in the closing stages of the second round with a two-under 70 to lie at 26th shot in the Coca Cola Tokai Classic at Miyoshi Country Club.
Jeev, who shot 73 in the first round, began in style with birdies on second and third holes. He built on that with yet another one on seventh. Further birdies on 10th and 12th meant he was five-under for the day and at that stage he was in top-10 and looking good to go better.
But then trouble struck in the form of bogeys on the 13th, 15th and 18th and he dropped to 70 to be tied 26th.
Korea`s Bae Sang-moon (67) moved into shared lead with Akinori Tani (69-67) at eight-under 136.
Kim hyung-sung was third with rounds of 68 and 70 for a six-under 138, while last week`s winner at Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open, Tetsuji Hiratsuka (69-70) was tied for fourth with two others.
Jeev, who was finished fourth last week, has been in good form with two consecutive top-5 finishes.
This is only the second start for Jeev in Japan this season.
