Kapur, Himmat miss cut; Grace takes four-shot lead

St Andrews (UK): Indian golfers Shiv Kapur and Himmat Rai bowed out of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championships after failing to make the cut, which in this tournament is applied after three rounds.

Kapur (71) missed the cut by just one shot with a total of four-under 212 in tied 70th place. Rai, playing here for the first time, carded 72 and crashed out at four-over 220. In the third round, Kapur played at Kingsbarns and Rai played at Carnoustie.

The pros play three rounds, one each at St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns before the cut is applied and the final round is played again at St. Andrews.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Branden Grace will take a four shot lead into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. And among his admirers was Ernie Els who praised his fellow South African after another impressive show. Grace continued to dominate an event he has led since his opening 60 at Kingsbarns on Thursday.

Grace (69) is now at 20-under and takes a four stroke advantage over Dane Thorbj?rn Olesen into the closing 18 holes after a three-under 69 at Carnoustie, the toughest of the three courses used for the celebrity pro-am.

Swedes Fredrik Andersson Hed and Alex Noren are in third spot, while Scot Stephen Gallacher, whose only European Tour victory in nearly 400 starts came in this event eight years ago, produced a spectacular finish to be in the group on 14 under.
