Pallavi Jain takes lead in the 13th leg Hero WGAI Tour
Mumbai: Pallavi Jain, who is yet to taste victory on the Hero WGAI Professional Golf Tour, took a three-shot lead in the 13th leg of the Tour at the Willingdon Golf Club on Wednesday.
Pallavi shot a card a 63 on the short par-65 course.
Following her was Saaniya Sharma, whose lone win this year came in the fourth leg, shot one over 66.
Nalini Singh Siwach, who has three titles in the current season, shot 68, after crumbling on the last stretch with four bogeys in last five holes.
In the fourth place was Shraddhanjali Singh (69) and money leader Smriti Mehra shot 70 to be tied fifth with three others Ankita Tiwana, Vandana Aggarwal and Neha Tripathi.
Pallavi had four birdies, two on each side of the course, and two bogeys, on either side of the turn.
Pallavi, who has played in each of the previous 12 events but failed to register a win, had her birdies on fifth and eighth and the bogey came on fourth.
On the back nine she bogeyed the tenth, both birdied the 11th and 17th for a card of 63.
Saaniya, one of the long hitters on the Tour, opened with a double bogey but later had three birdies and two more bogeys.
Nalini, who trails leader Smriti Mehra on the Order of Merit, was going fine till the 13th at which point she was one-under and threatening Pallavi.
Then she bogeyed the 14th and followed up three in a row from 16th to 18th for a disappointing finish. She was also distracted by a strange incident of a bird carrying off her ball from the fairway on the second.
