Gleneagles, Scotland: Europe`s Rory McIlroy and American Rickie Fowler, two of golf`s top young stars, teed off against each other in Saturday`s fourth and final Ryder Cup morning fourballs match at Gleneagles.

World number one McIlroy, coming off wins at the British Open and PGA Championship, is paired with England`s Ian Poulter against Fowler and rookie Jimmy Walker, the only tandem to play in the first three sessions for Tom Watson`s US squad.

Fowler seeks his first Cup victory after a loss and four halves, the latest of them against McIlroy and Sergio Garcia in Friday foursomes after the Europeans birdied the last two holes to deny Fowler a long-sought Cup victory yet again.

McIlroy, 25, has taken eight matches to the final hole but won only two of them.

Fowler, 25, was a top-five finisher in all of this year`s major tournaments, runner-up in the US and British Opens, third at the PGA Championship and fifth at the Masters.
