Wales:Ryder Cup rookie Peter Hanson has given the European Team a scare ahead of next week`s showdown (Oct. 1-3) against the U.S. by withdrawing through illness from the Vivendi Cup in France.
Hanson arrived in Chambourcy earlier this week complaining of a chest infection, head cold and fever and indicated to reporters on the eve of the pro-am format event that unless he felt better he would withdraw.
The 32-year Swedish did that on Thursday by telling officials that he did not feel well enough to take his place in the field.
Hanson is hoping to shake off the illness before heading to Wales on Monday in preparation for his Ryder Cup debut.
His place in the Vivendi Cup has been taken by Brittany professional Damien Perrier.
