Gurgaon: SSP Chowrasia`s title defence at the Avantha Masters suffered a setback after the Indian golfer injured his wrist during practice on the eve of the tournament, on Wednesday.

He then decided to skip his practice in order to be fit for the main competition beginning here tomorrow.

"My left wrist has been hurting, so I chose to skip practice. I have been to the physiotherapist and hopefully Thursday I will feel better.

He would also join Arjun Atwal and Jeev Milkha Singh, on three European Tour title.

After a mediocre last season, Chowrasi is looking forward to the this year.

Besides Chowrasia, the tournament boasts of top Indian golfers such as Jeev Milkha Singh, Shiv Kapur and Rahi Gangjee.

Among the international stars in fray are 2004 British Open winner Todd Hamilton of the United States and American Peter Uhlhein, the former world number one amateur.
