Shiv Kapur tied 13th with Els, Jeev fails to make the cut

Munich: Shiv Kapur positioned himself nicely at the halfway stage of the BMW International Open with a fine four-under 68 that gave him a total of seven-under 137 and tied 13th palce with some more players, including overnight leader Ernie Els yet to finish.

Jeev Milkha Singh made an early exit with rounds of 73 and 74. Defending champion Danny Willett of England carded a second round 65 to share the clubhouse lead with Bernd Wiesberger (68) at 10-under after 36 holes. Willett, who secured his maiden European Tour title at Gut L?rchenhof 12 months ago, surged to 10-under par with seven birdies in his bogey-free effort. Kapur said,"Played solidly both days. I drove the ball well today, I struggled off the tee yesterday. Today I had so many chances, I rolled the ball well and I had a lot of near misses. It was one of those days when it (score) could have been scary low. I just played steady and never put myself under pressure. I gave myself chances and law of averages, some had to fall." He added,"The conditions were pretty friendly out and good for scoring. Not much wind out there. Perfect golfing temperature and the greens were perfect. I have played myself well into the tournament coming off a top-10 in Austria. "I like this golf course and I have played well here in the past. It is just a question of few putts dropping and I am happy with my position." The 25 year old Willett started on the tenth at Golfclub M?nchen Eichenried, and birdied the 11th and 12th to turn in 34. Overnight leader Ernie Els had five pars to start with before he birdied the sixth and then double bogeyed the seventh. Els had a stunning nine-under 63 on opening day, while home favourite Martin Kaymer added one-under 71 to his first eight-under 64. France`s Alexander Levy turned in 33 to join Wiesberger and Willett on 10-under. PTI
