Melody Queen`s niece makes her debut as a singer

Mumbai, May 30: Radha Mangeshkar, niece of Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar makes her debut as a singer with her debut album "Nav Maza Shaami", a compilation of Marathi folk songs lyrics of which are penned by legendary Marathi poets.Radha`s father Pandit Hridaynath has composed the music of the album, which was launched by Lata at a function held last night.

Speaking on the occasion, the legendary singer said she was overwhelmed by the fact that the third generation of her family was ready take music as a full fledged profession. "My parents must be very happy today. Radha has a very distinct voice and she will carve a niche for herself," she said. Lata said it was upto the music lovers to decide whether Radha can be a good successful singer. She said the album gives a new expression to the traditional folk songs. There are six songs penned by legends like N D Mahanor, Sudhir Moghe and late B B Borkar. Bureau Report
