Don’t write the Aussies off for Ashes, says James Pattinson

Don’t write the Aussies off for Ashes, says James PattinsonSydney: In form fast bowler James Pattinson has warned rivals England against writing off Australia`s chances for the Ashes series in July, saying the English conditions are going to suit their quicks more than the harsh sub-continental environment.

Pattinson admits the innings defeat in Hyderabad against India was shattering but, in response to the English reaction, does not shy away from a return serve.

Pattinson said England has been in the same position before, and they got beaten by a New Zealand second XI team the other day as well, pointing to England`s defeat in a four-day tour match in Queenstown last week.

The 22-year-old is adamant that Australia`s woes on the subcontinent need to be kept in perspective, however, he believes English conditions will be far more suitable to players who have been brutally exposed in India.

Pattinson said a lot can happen in three months of cricket, as it`s very different conditions, adding England did well because they had two fantastic spinners in Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann over here, and their batters really batted well, particularly Alastair Cook.

Pattinson added they can say what they want, it just makes them eager to prove them wrong, adding the more they say, he doesn`t think it affects them really, but just makes them hungrier for victory.
