MEA defends decision to grant visa to Javed MiandadZeenews Sports Bureau

New Delhi: Ministry of External Affairs has defended the government’s decision to grant visa to former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad to travel to India for the third ODI scheduled for 6th January.

The government says that Miandad has been given visa as he is not on the prohibited list and also because he is a top Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official.

Shive Sena had questioned the decision demanding immediate cancellation of the visa.

Miandad`s son Junaid is married to Mahrukh, the daughter of Dawood, who is wanted in India in connection with the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case. India has been asking Pakistan to extradite Dawood, whose name also figures in the US’ most wanted list in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts.

After his statement during his son wedding and becoming father-in-law of Dawood ibrahim , i personally object for granting visa to Miadad. These kind of arrogant people who insult our nation should never be granted visa. I request the MEA and Home Ministry (GOI) to immediately cancel his VISA. No VISA FOR THESE KIND OF PEOPLE

The shameless MEA should cancel the visa. Instead of saying that he is not in any prohibitory list, the MEA must inlcude his name in the so called ``LIST`` if they have little shame. Tomorrow Dawood himself may be in PCB`s top post, then MEA will welcome him also as chief guest ? There should be little shame if you are Indians. Shame on you.

Why not honour him in the Rashtrapati Bhawan?

Granting of visa is the right step, showing our civility and our political as well as emotional maturity. Javed Miandad has a stature of his own, which must be respected.
