Hendrix was murdered by manager: Book

Was rock legend Jimi Hendrix murdered by his own manager?

London, June 02: Was rock legend Jimi Hendrix murdered by his own manager? If a book by the guitarist`s former roadie James `Tappy` Wright is to be believed, the answer is yes.Wright in his new book `Rock Roadie` claims that Hendrix`s manager Michael Jeffery confessed to killing the rocker after a drunken spree with him, reported Contactmusic.
The author claims that Jeffery killed Hendrix after learning that the musician planned to fire him. Hendrix was 27 when he choked to death on his own vomit in a London hotel after an alleged overdose of drugs, but the exact circumstances of the tragedy have always been a mystery. "I can still hear that conversation, see the man I`d known for so much of my life, his face pale, hand clutching at his glass in sudden rage. `I had to do it, Tappy. You understand, don`t you?`" writes Wright about Jeffrey`s alleged confession in 1971, two years before he was killed in a plane crash. The author also claims that Jeffery had taken out a life insurance policy on Hendrix, worth USD 1.8 million and usurped the money. "`I was in London the night of Jimi`s death and together with some old friends... we went round to (Hendrix`s girlfriend) Monika`s hotel room, got a handful of pills and stuffed them into his mouth... then poured a few bottles of red wine deep into his windpipe` said Jeffery," claims the book.
