Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) president S M Hashmi and Treasurer Madhukant Pathak will be visiting London to cheer up the Indian team in the ensuing Olympic Games.
"We will be leaving for London on 3rd August and return after attending the closing ceremony of the games on August 12th," Hashmi said.
Besides cheering up the our sportspersons, Hashmi expressed hope that the visit would also help them learn and gain experience about hosting mega sports events particularly in the wake of proposed South Asian Federation (SAF) games.
JOA has already staked claim to host the SAF games and had communicated its willingness in written to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) last month, he said.
Hashmi, who had attended three Olympics and Asian games each as well as two Commonwealth Games in the past, claimed that a 12-day course he had attended during the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006 had helped him to make the 34th National Games hosted by Jharkhand in February last year a grand success.
"We were taught all aspects involving the conduct of the mega sports events including how to organise it and how to tackle problems being faced by members of the visiting teams etc," he said.
