London Olympics 2012: Day 4 (Tuesday) HighlightsLondon: Boxer Manoj Kumar enters pre-quarterfinals

Indian boxer Manoj Kumar stormed into the pre-quarterfinals by defeating Turkmenistan’s Serdar Hudayberdiyev 13-7 in the Men’s Light Welter (64 kg) category.

After the first round, both the boxers were leveled at 2-2. But Manoj Kumar took a decisive lead in the second round. After the second round he was leading 7-3.

Michael Phelps is now the greatest Olympian

Michael Phelps broke the Olympic medals record Tuesday with his 19th as the United States romped to a dominating win in 4x200-meter freestyle relay at the London Games.

With 19 career medals spanning three Olympics, Phelps moved one ahead of Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina, who got her haul in 1956, 1960 and 1964. And he finally got his first gold of these games, bouncing back from the disappointment of settling for silver when he glided at the end of the 200 butterfly earlier Tuesday.

Jwala Gutta-Ashwini Ponappa stormed into the next round of the badminton event of the London Olympics by beating SM Sari and L Yao of Singapore 21-16, 21-15.

Djokovic in 2nd round

World No. 2 Novak Djokovic defeated Andy Roddick 6-2, 6-1 in the second round of the Olympics at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Roddick failed to put up any fight against the Serbian who finished with 34 winners to Roddick’s 12.

Indian archer Rahul Banerjee crashed out of London Olympics as he lost 3-7 to Rafal Dobrowolski of Poland in the pre-quarterfinals of the men's individual event at the Lord's Cricket Ground.

Tarundeep Rai ousted in pre-quarters

India's Tarundeep Rai lost 2-6 agaisnt Bubmin Kim of Republic of Korea in the Olympic pre-quarterfinals of the men's individual event at the Lord's Cricket Ground.

Unfortunately with this event the Indian challenge in the men's archery event at the London Olympics has finally come to an end.

Jwala Gutta and V Diju's campaign in the mixed doubles ended after losing to South Korea's Jung Eun Ha and Yong Dae Lee 0-2 in a group C encounter on Tuesday.

The South Korean pair defeated the Indian duo 21-15, 21-15 in 24 minutes.

Archery: Jayanta Talukdar crashes out

India’s Jayanta Talukdar crashed out of men’s individual archery event after he lost to USA’s Wukie Jacobs 0-6 on Tuesday.

Jacobs won the first set 27-22 and went on to seal the other two to oust the Indian. Jacobs fired six 10's against Talukdar’s one in the match.

Badminton: Kashyap wins in style

Parupalli Kashyap defeated Tien Minh Nguyen of Vietnam 21-9, 21-14 in men`s singles group D badminton match to enter pre-quarters on Tuesday.

Update 3: Midway through the second set, Kashyap leads 11-7.

Update 2: Parupalli Kashyap wrapped up the first game in style against Tien Minh Nguyen 21-9. He claimed the first game in 16 minutes. With a win in the next game he will move to pre-quarters.

Update 1: Group D match between Parupalli Kashyap and Tien Minh Nguyen is underway.

Parupalli Kashyap faces world no 10-ranked Tien Minh Nguyen of Vietnam in men`s singles group D badminton match.

Kashyap started off the campaign defeating Belgian`s Tan Yuhan 21-14, 21-12.
