Olympic decathlon: Eaton grinds out gold for US
Ashton Eaton of the US toiled to Olympic gold in the men`s decathlon Thursday with an overall score of 8,869 points. Olympic javelin: Spotakova wins gold, retains title
Czech javelin thrower Barbora Spotakova retained her Olympic title Thursday, throwing more than four metres further than her closest rival. Usain Bolt wins 200m gold
Lightning ‘Bolt’ struck again and with that history books were rewritten as Usain Bolt blitzed his way to 200m gold with a timing of 19.32. Yohan Blake came in second with a timing of 19.44 to secure the silver medal. Weir Warren of Jamaica made it a Jamaican clean sweep clinching bronze with a timing 19.84. America`s 17-year-old prodigy Claressa Shields took the inaugural Olympic gold in the women`s 75 kg boxing tournament here Thursday. Olympic wrestling: 21-year old student from Siberia pins down gold
Russian wrestler Natalia Vorobieva pinned down her opponent and the gold medal in the final of the women`s 72 kg freestyle wrestling Thursday. Bulgaria`s Stanka Zlateva won the first round 1-0 but was pinned by Vorobieva 46 seconds into the second round and lost the match to the 21-year-old student from Siberia. Tintu Luka of India crashed out of the 800m semi-final finishing 6th in Heat 2 with a timing of 1:59.69.

17-year-old Claressa Shields of USA has won the gold medal in women’s middleweight (75kg) category defeating Nadezda Torlopova of Russia 19-12.
Ireland's Katie Tayor has won the Women's Light (60kg) gold defeating Sofya Ochigava of Russia.
Nicola Adams of Great Britain becomes the first women’s boxing gold medalist (51kg) in Olympics. She defeated Cancanren of China 16-7.

India's Geeta Phogat will now contest in repechage round where she has to overcome two opponents to lay her hand on bronze medal.
Canada have won the bronze medal after a stoppage-time goal gave them a 1-0 victory over France.

Sahana Kumari crashed out of the Women's high jump qualification event after failing to clear the desired height in the 3rd round.
1.85: Sahana Kumari failed to clear the height of 1.85 in her second attempt as well. She has another attempt left to clear 1.85.
1.80: Women's high jump qualification event is underway. India's Sahana Kumari has cleared her first height of 1.80 in her first attempt.
India have athletes competing in three events on Thursday starting with Sahana Kumari featuring in the women’s high jump qualification at 2 pm IST.
