London Olympics Shooting: HP CM recommends Vijay Kumar for Rajiv Gandhi Kel Ratna  Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Wednesday said he would recommend London Olympics silver medal winning marksman Vijay Kumar for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Dhumal said that conferring the highest sports award to Vijay Kumar, who bagged a silver medal in 25m rapid fire event, would boost his morale and further improve his performance to bring laurels for the country.

The Chief Minister said his government, in recognition to Vijay Kumar`s contribution and achievements, has announced a cash award of Rs. One crore and also decided to honour him with `Himachal Gourav Award` on the Independence Day next week.
