Her alarming form forced the Chinese to make a last-minute change ahead of the Olympics. They named in-form Li Xuerui, world No 3, in place of Asian Games gold medallist Wang Shixian in addition to the first two ranked players in the world, Wang Yihan and Wang Xin for women’s singles. When asked about the change, an unperturbed Saina said that it was a matter of pride for her that the Chinese had to change their contingents. Saina is the only seeded shuttler among the five who will represent India at the London Games. It is yet to be seen whether she can conquer ‘The Great Wall of China’ at the big stage.
