A veteran in the Indian tennis circuit, Rushmi Chakravarthi initially didn’t enjoy the game after she first started playing it at the tender age of eight.
However, she gradually developed a keen interest in the game and by the age of 11 started participating in various tournaments.
Rushmi has won over 30 ITF doubles title, including one with Sania Mirza in 2004, and 11 singles titles in her long career so far.
She also won bronze medal in the women doubles category in the 2010 Commonwealth Games partnering Sania Mirza besides progressing to the quarterfinals in the singles event as well.
Two of her doubles titles came in 2012 season with Ankita Raina in the ITF Futures tournament in New Delhi.
She will compete in the 2012 London Games along with Sania after being awarded a wild card entry for the women’s doubles.
