Vikas Gowda (men’s discus throw): Discus thrower Vikas Gowda, who threw to his second best ever mark of 64.89 metres while claiming the bronze in the invitational meet at Chula Vista, California, US became the first Indian athlete to make the grade for the London Olympics.
The US-based Gowda had already qualified for the World championships, with his 63.69m in the Commonwealth Games.
Recently, on 12th April Vikas Gowda proclaimed his Olympic ambitions in telling fashion with a National record of 66.28 metres in the Old Style discus challenge meet at Norman, Oklahoma, US.
