IOC allows Kuwaiti athletes to compete under Olympic flag

Ottawa (Canada): Kuwaiti athletes can compete under the Olympic flag at the London Games after their Olympic committee was suspended, the International Olympic Committee said.

The Kuwaiti Olympic Committee has been suspended by the IOC since 2010 because of government interference. The IOC executive board, in Quebec City for its second meeting this year, came up with this solution, reported Xinhua.

If Kuwait remains suspended, the athletes will compete as "independent Olympic athletes" and march in London`s opening ceremony under the Olympic flag, IOC said.
