Organisers want Posh to perform with Spice Girls at Olympics

Organisers want Posh to perform with Spice Girls at Olympics	London: David Beckham’s Olympic dream may be over after being snubbed off from England’s football squad, but organisers still want his wife Victoria to appear to spice up the games.

Beckham was stunned when he was left out of the Great Britain football team by manager Stuart Pearce.

However, Games chiefs have approached Victoria, 38, and the rest of the Spice Girls to appear at either the opening or closing ceremony in London.

But it appears another Beckham is set to miss out on Games glory – because Victoria has turned her back on the pop world.

“There were lots of rumours about us doing the Olympics but the truth is we weren’t asked until recently,” Beckham’s fellow Spice Girl Mel C told the Daily Star on Sunday.

“Now it seems to be very, very close and I think it may be a little bit too late to get it organised in time. That’s an exclusive. I’ve not told anyone that and I don’t think I am allowed to say any more but yes we have been asked to perform.

“We will possibly perform together as a five-piece at some point in the future, though. I never thought it would happen for the first reunion so there is no reason to say it won’t happen again,” she said.

Victoria’s LA Galaxy star hubby David is still expected to appear at the London Games in a non-playing role, despite being snubbed off from England’s Olympic football squad.

His US club has given him the go-ahead to attend the opening on July 27, if he is picked to light the Olympic flame.

The former England international would miss only one game for his club side, at FC Dallas in Texas the following day.

“It’s the least we can do for David under the sad circumstances of his omission from the team,” a senior Galaxy official said.

“If he gets to light the torch, he will fly back to England with our full blessing.”

Beckham reportedly burst into tears in front of teammates after hearing of his Olympic snub.

“Not being selected was a very bitter blow for him. I know he shed a few tears in the dressing room before training the day after the announcement when his teammates made a point of consoling him,” a source at Galaxy owners AEG said.

“His dream was to add Olympic Gold to his collection of medals.

“We all hope he at least gets the honour of lighting the flame so the crowd in London can show their appreciation of a true sporting legend,” the source added.
