Rohan Bopanna from Bangalore, Karnataka, is widely known for his team-up with Aisam Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan.

Their pair was lovingly called Indo-Pak Express. Aged 32, Bopanna has won six doubles career titles so far, mostly with Qureshi and one with Mahesh Bhupathi. He has been runners-up in 12 events in his career.

He will be partnering Mahesh Bhupathi for the Tennis doubles event at the London Olympics. Currently ranked 14 in men’s doubles.

Rohan began playing tennis at the age of 11 on his father’s insistence. In 2005, government of Karnataka awarded him with ekalayva award for his achievements on tennis courts.

TRIVIA

As a teenager he preferred playing football and hockey over tennis.
