Mohammad Irfan to undergo rehab with Pakistan team

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to send left arm pacer Mohammad Irfan to the United Arab Emirates where he will undergo a rehabilitation process with the Pakistan team.

A official of the board confirmed that Irfan will be going to Abu Dhabi where Pakistan is playing Sri Lanka. "Basically he is not part of the team but he is being sent there so that the team`s physiotherapist and trainer Dale Naylor and doctor Faisal can monitor his rehabilitation process on a day to day basis," the official explained. Irfan injured his hip while bowling in the last T20 international against South Africa in the UAE last month. The tall pacer`s unavailability would be a huge setback to the national team ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka. The board official said Irfan was initially advised rest for six weeks but the team physio and doctor would now supervise and monitor his rehabilitation process in the UAE. "It has been very frustrating sitting on the sidelines as I was very keen to play against Sri Lanka but I have been advised not to take risk of aggravating the injury and to follow the rehab process properly," Irfan said.
