Abu Dhabi: Johnny Cecotto Junior will be testing for India`s Formula One Sahara Force India team at the upcoming young driver test in Abu Dhabi next week.
The 22-year-old Venezuelan, whose father and namesake competed in Formula One in the 1980s, will get behind the wheel of the VJM04, Wednesday at the Yas Marina circuit, as will Max Chilton. The test will be Johnny`s debut in a Formula 1 car.
"I think all drivers want to race in Formula 1 so the chance to get time in the Sahara Force India F1 car is a big moment for me. In fact, I can`t stop smiling at the thought of driving such an amazing car," he said in a statement.
"I know there`s a massive amount to learn and a lot of work to get through on the day, but I definitely feel ready to get behind the wheel. I hope I can do a good job and repay the faith the team have shown by giving me a chance in the car," he said.
Cecotto senior raced for Theodore and Toleman for two seasons in 1983 and 1984 and scored a point with sixth place in the USA-West Grand Prix in Long Beach.
Until the arrival compatriot Pastor Maldonado at Williams, Cecotto senior was the last Venezuelan driver to score a point in Formula One.
The other young drivers to testing next week are Canadian Robert Wickens, Estonian Kevin Korjus and Czech Jan Charouz with Renault.
