Champagne on ice for Red Bull`s 100th race

Budapest: Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber were perfectly placed to give Red Bull a 100th grand prix to savour after leaving their rivals gasping for breath in Hungary on Saturday with their most dominant qualifying yet.

Vettel`s fourth pole in a row, and seventh of the season, was also Red Bull`s 11th in 12 races and the German lapped the Hungaroring 1.2 seconds quicker than the third placed Ferrari of Fernando Alonso."I said on the radio to the boys `this is your moment,`" he gushed afterwards. "Mark and myself were pushing hard to finish first and second but I said `it is your moment, enjoy, you built this wonderful car.` It was a pleasure to drive yesterday and even more so today." Hungary has typically proved a tough track to overtake on unless drivers make mistakes, and the GP2 support series that followed qualifying was full of incident, and even Webber looked demoralised by Vettel`s dominance. "There wasn`t maybe a chance for the other guys to have a crack at us today, so we knew that it was going to be pretty tight between us like it was in Barcelona," said the Australian. "Whoever did the quickest lap out of us two was probably going to get pole." Webber and his team mate are currently level on points after 11 of the 19 races but Vettel -- with London bookmakers William Hill establishing him as title favourite for the first time this season -- looks a good bet to leapfrog into at least third place overall and probably second. "I think the difference we had yesterday to Red Bull was too big to improve overnight," said Alonso, winner at Hockenheim last weekend. "This morning we checked this as well and we saw that they were dominant this weekend and untouchable."McLaren`s Lewis Hamilton qualified fifth and will need to finish at least seventh to prevent Vettel taking the overall championship lead, assuming the German manages to convert pole into a win for only the second time this season. Hamilton is 14 points clear of team mate and world champion Jenson Button, with Vettel and Webber 21 off the pace. "The Red Bulls are impossible to beat -- they are 1.7 seconds ahead," said Hamilton, winner twice in the last three years in Hungary. "For Jenson and me, we just look at the onboard footage and laugh. I don`t know what they (Red Bull) are doing but it`s incredible." Former team boss Eddie Jordan, now a pundit for a television channel, was equally amazed by the afternoon. "This is the most significant dominance by a team so far this season," he said. "Red Bull are absolutely at the top of their game and their rivals have absolutely no answer at the moment." Bureau Report
