London: Ferrari chief Stefano Domenicalli has backed Fernando Alonso for winning the F1 title in 2013. Domenicalli reckons Alonso is ready to seek revenge after losing the 2012 world championship to Sebastian Vettel, and will be recharging his batteries for 2013 being better than ever.
The F1 supremo told the BBC F1 review show Alonso had the mental strength to recover from the loss, the Daily Mirror reports. “The strength of a champion is to make sure that in this break you recharge and once again be the best. If you put yourself in his shoes, he knows and he knew at that stage he would have deserved the championship. Honestly,” he said. "That`s without putting any negative words on Sebastian - he won and so he deserved that,” he added. Domenicalli said Ferrari were planning a major upgrade to allow them to get closer to Red Bull in 2013, the report said. Alonson was also voted the driver of the season by Team Bosses, a poll by Autosport magazine showed eight of twelve rated the Spaniard as more impressive than Vettel over the course of 2012, it added.
