London: Polish driver Robert Kubica has till the end of October to confirm whether he will be fit, before Renault F1 team boss Eric Boullier decides to go with another driver for the next season.
The Pole suffered major injuries after a crash at an Italian rally in February.
Kubica, 26, who has been missing in action since the crash, has been replaced by 34-year-old German Nick Heidfeld.
"In October we consider that Robert can put a helmet on his head just to give a message of what he will be capable to do," Sky Sports quoted Kubica’s manager, Daniele Morelli as saying.
"We are not talking of course of Formula One right away, but it is important that Robert can start to drive," Morelli added.
