Indianapolis: Honda`s Belgian rider Livio Loi claimed his first career victory by winning a rain-hit Indianapolis Moto3 race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday.
Loi started on the ninth row and took over the lead with 19 laps remaining.
Right behind Loi were Great Britain`s John McPhee and Germany`s Philipp Oettl.
Loi covered the 23-lap (95.91km) course in 40min 50.747sec and finished ahead of McPhee by 38.860 seconds.
With overcast skies and rain at the outset, most of the field began the race with rain tyres.
Loi, McPhee and Oettl started with slick tyres, and the gamble paid dividends, heading to the podium for the first time in their Moto3 careers.
