New Delhi: Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's official website has been relaunched by his family to mark the 20th anniversary of his first Formula One title. The German legend won first of seven world titles with Benetton Ford in 1994.
The website was closed down following the 2013 skiing accident in the French Alps which almost killed him last December.
The 45-year-old has been recovering at his family home in Switzerland since being released from hospital. His treatment and the subsequent developments have been kept a top secret by the family.
But to the relief of his fans, a doctor who treated him in the crucial initial hours after his accident confirmed last month that Schumi is out of a coma and predicted that he may make a slow recovery.
According to Schumi's management, the site is being relaunched to provide "a home" for the star's fans around the world.
The former Ferrari driver's family in a message said, "Still we receive wishes for Michael to get well soon every day, and still we are stunned by the sheer amount of sympathies. We can only always thank you for facing this fight together with him and us. We remain confident and hope the best for Michael. Your strength is helping us to keep supporting him."
The relaunched version of the website does not have a mention of the accident, instead it carried Schumi's legacy, celebrating his achievements. It also has a fan page, and dedicated hashtag #keepfightingmichael for Twitter users.
Regarded as one of the greatest drivers of all time, Schumi won seven drivers's titles, 91 races besides creating new records and setting a new standard in the racing sports. On Novemver 13, 1994 Schumacher captured his first title despite failing to complete the Australian Grand Prix, and thus started an enduring saga of sporting domination. He went on to dominate the highest class of motor racing like no one ever did.
