Berlin: Mick Schumacher, the 16-year-old son of seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher, finished ninth on his debut at Germany`s famous Nuerburgring circuit in the Formula Four series on Saturday.
Watched by his mother Corinna and sister Gina, while his uncle Ralf Schumacher, an ex-Formula One driver, was a commentator for German television, Mick put in a good performance behind 18-year-old winner Marvin Dienst.
It meant the teenage Schumacher, who drives for the Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing, will start Saturday`s second race in seventh place, then second on the grid in Sunday`s third race.
Both will give him a good chance to claim another Formula Four win to add to his debut victory at Oschersleben, Germany, at the start of the season in April.
Schumacher is 15th overall in the drivers` table with 11 races left on his first season in Formula Four after a successful career on the go-karting circuit.
Michael Schumacher is still recovering at home in Switzerland having spent six months last year in an artificial coma following a serious head injury he suffered in a skiing accident in December 2013.
