Motorcycle racer dies while chasing speed record

Maine: Bill Warner, an American motorcycle racer, died on Sunday after suffering a crash at an annual racing event in Maine while trying to hit 300 mph. According to race officials, Warner was clocked at 285 mph before he lost control of his motorcycle during “The Maine Event” – an annual racing competition. "No one will touch Bill`s achievements or be the type of racer he was. He was a personal friend and the land-racing community is less for his loss," Tim Kelly, race director the Loring Timing Association (host of the event) was quoted as saying in media reports. The 44-year-old in 2011 had clocked 311 mph on the same course setting a record for riding a motorcycle faster than anyone in the world.
