Resta captures career-best 6th slot on the grid

Silverstone (UK): Force India driver Paul di Resta on Saturday achieved his best-ever qualifying position by capturing the sixth slot on the grid while Adrian Sutil will start Sunday’s British Grand Prix in the 11th place.

Resta continued to improve his lap-timing in successive sessions and finally clocked 1:31.929 in Q3 to settle for the sixth position, just behind McLaren`s Jenson Button.

Before this, the eighth position on the grid for the Chinese Grand Prix was Resta`s best qualifying result.

Resta has not scored points in the last six races and this grid-position is a good opportunity to end the point-less streak for the Scottish driver.

Sutil (1m 32.617s) made the Q2 and looked like making the Q3 as well but Button`s last minute super effort in which he jumped from 13th to fourth with 1m 32.273s, pushed the Force India driver to 11th.

It was again one-two for Red Bull with Mark Webber claiming the Pole and defending champion Sebastian Vettel behind him.

Ferrari`s Fernando Alonso was third, followed by his teammate Felipe Massa.

India`s Narain Karthikeyan will not race tomorrow as his Hispania team gave the racing seat to new recruit Daniel Ricciardo, who will start last (24th) on the grid on Sunday.
