Rome: Valentino Rossi hopes to return to the racetrack at the Czech Grand Prix in August, the injured MotoGP champion said in a Yamaha statement.
The 31-year-old Italian added that he was happy with the pace of his recovery after breaking a leg at his home grand prix three weeks ago.
"I am walking with crutches and since a few days I`ve been able to put my foot to the floor," he said.
"Honestly, I didn`t expect to feel this good just a few weeks after the incident, and I mean both physically and in my spirit.`
Rossi said he missed the MotoGP paddock, had been able to leave his house and was using a hyperbaric chamber and doing some exercises in the gym.
"Unfortunately my shoulder is still giving me some pain but I am working on the muscles to reduce the pain a bit," added the rider, whose Spanish team mate Jorge Lorenzo has won the last two races and now enjoys a 47 point lead.
"If the rehabilitation proceeds without trouble and if everything continues in this way, then my objective is to return at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno," Rossi said.
The Aug. 15 race is the 10th round of the 18 race calendar.
