New Delhi: Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg finished one-two in the inaugural Russian Grand Prix to seal the Constructors' Championship, with three races to spare in the season.
This is the ninth GP of the season where Silver Arrows' managed to finish among the top two. And with that Mercedes managed to end the domination of Red Bull, who won the last four Championships' on the trot, with Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.
Though Bull are currently on the second spot with 342 points, it's far below than 565 points earned by the leaders.
In fact, it would be the maiden Constructors' Championship for the Mercedes, who made a comeback in 2010 after quitting the sport in 1955.
If the Hamilton-Rosberg pair manages another one-two finish, before the end of the season, they will match the world record created by McLaren in 1988.
Since the beginning of the season, Mercedes have shown their dominance. It is also highly possible that one of their drivers will run away with the Drivers' Championship as well. If the 2008 world champion Hamilton is leading the pack with 291 points, then, Rosberg is not far behind with 274 points in his kitty, after the end of 16 races, out of 19 scheduled for the season.
So, this season, Mercedes not only managed to surpass the Bulls, but left the title holders with plenty to ponder over.
